Philippe Lamy is born in Granby city, but spent most of his life in Terrebonne, close to Montreal in the province of Quebec.
Since the early age of six years old, Philippe showed a great desire to learn music. At the age of nine, he received his first guitar and started to learn music basics. Philippe kept on developing his art with private music lessons and few years later, he got himself accepted in a music oriented program in high school « École du Coteau » in Mascouche city.
As an harmony member, Philippe felt that his knowledge kept on growing. He had the occasion to participate in many competitions within the harmony and won several gold medals at the « Festival des Harmonies du Québec ». During his last year in high school, he became the official guitarist of the school's jazz band. Throughout these years, Philippe became very conscious of his great passion for music. He learned to expand his musical frontiers and became interested in a huge variety of music styles such as: progressive rock, classical music, jazz and blues.
After these beautiful years, Philippe pursued into a college program specialized in jazz and popular music interpretation at « Collège Lionel-Groulx » in Ste-Thérèse city. During these three years of technical training, he increased his musical fulfillment. Surrounded by passionate students and teachers, Philippe had the chance to play music with many talented musicians.
Then, he jumped on the opportunity of developing his own musical interpretation style. Philippe also became interested in film music score composition and everything surrounding orchestral music. In 2010, Philippe earned his college degree in musical interpretation and decided to go further in his musical knowledge and earned a second college degree in musical composition one year later.
Today, Philippe Lamy’s music is inspired by many great composers, namely: Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Alexandre Desplat, Danny Elfman and John Powell. Actually, Philippe uses his musical knowledge and talent to create and produce professional quality musical compositions.
